My first dining experience at Christy's has good and bad points; however, I will give it another try as every restaurant has its moments. By the time we arrived for our 8:30 pm reservation the specials had already sold out. (What's so special if it's already sold out by 8:30pm ... it was difficult moment, as having found out that one has missed the Osso Buco is a wound that just wont heal!)
On the good side, the flavor of the dishes ordered were delicious ... however, the cooking technique was a bit off. My pork dish was cooked dry (or left under a heating lamp/warming oven until dried out) and the two plates of New Zealand Sea Bass, although not overcooked, were just pushing the envelope. However, the shrimp pasta dish was well prepared.
The accompanying white and green asparagus spears served on three of the dishes were RAW ... not al dente, just plain RAW. I'm sorry; lettuce is good raw, but not asparagus ... I could not eat it, nor could anyone else, for that matter. Thinking back on the situation, I should have taken them all home in a doggie bag and steamed them for 3 to 4 minutes, then chill with a nice modena vinagre, fresh basil, lemon juice and olive oil ... mmmmm, hindsight is always 20/20.
Now, the presentation was lovely, and the Pinot Grigio for $20+/bottle was very good. The atmosphere was a little noisy ... management should consider some acoustic dampening ...
It should be noted that all of the dinner plates were over $20 each. However, the portions are good enough to satiate anyone's appetite; so, appetizers are really not needed.
Bon chance, Christy's ... I'll give you another try ... but someone else better be on shift at the grill next time ...
